Release

built for carrying racing pigeons during WW11. 29 May 2000 marked
the first time this had been done via a railway coach for 40 years. |

Frank Watson, a former British Railways footplate inspector was "absolutely thrilled" after the Great Central Railway helped re-united him with the engine he was once responsible for - none other than national treasure, "Oliver Cromwell". As part of Frank's surprise, he was presented with a tiny momento of the engine. He was given a 'boiler washout plug' a life expired component that needs to be replaced as part of the restoration. The old plug was polished up as a gift and is clearly marked with the number "70013" |
